Program gives children chance to learn about coyotes, other local wildlife

Sitting beside aquariums occupied by live snakes and lizards, and shelves holding turtle shells and animal skulls, two children listened carefully as city biologist Katie McBride told them aboutCape Coral’s latest critter of interest.

Coyotes.

The Rotary Park lesson was one of the series of wildlife presentations the Parks and Recreation Department puts on every year, McBride said. They are free, and the public can find the latest schedule on the city’s parks and recreation web page on www.capecoral.net.

Cape Coral Little League registration begins today

The Cape Coral Athletic Division will be hosting open registration for its Spring 2015 Cal Ripken Baseball and Erik Metzler Jr/Sr Baseball Leagues beginning today, Monday, December 1.

The Cal Ripken League is open to all boys and girls age 4-12 (age as of 4/30/15) with registration open through January 9. The Erik Metzler Jr/Sr league is open to players ages 13-15 and registration will run through January 23.

Cape Coral Police announce November 2014 Do The Right Thing winners

On Wednesday, November 19, the Cape Coral Police Department held its monthlyl Do The Right Thing Awards ceremony at City Hall.

The department presented awards to ten Cape Coral students who were nominated for their recent actions that had a positive impact on the community.

The department hosts the ceremony each month during the school year to honor local students for going above and beyond in their every day life.

The ceremonies are typically held the third Wednesday of every month from September to May in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
