Cape Coral American 11-12 year old All-Stars impressive in opening game of tournament

The opening round of the District 9 tournament will continue through this Friday.

The Cape Coral American 11-12 year old All-Stars got off to an impressive start to the 2012 Florida District 9 Little League Tournament.

Led by pitcher Matt Laker’s 2-hit complete game shutout, the Cape American team defeated the North Fort Myers National 11-12 year old All-Stars by a score of 6-0.

At the plate, the Cape American All-Stars spread the offense throughout the lineup. The team began by scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning. They continued the offense by adding three more runs in the latter innings.

Next up, the Cape American All-Stars will face the Buckingham All-Stars this Wednesday night as the 11-12 year old District 9 tournament continues.

This year’s Pool 2 division consists of Cape American, North Fort Myers National, Cape Coral National and Buckingham. The two teams with the best record during pool play will advance to the championship round.
