Order of Eastern Star installs 2013-2014 officers
The organization was established in Cape Coral in 1969.
Cape Coral’s Order of the Eastern Star Loyalty Chapter #309 installed their officers for 2013-2014 this past weekend.
In a ceremony open to the public, the organization installed 18 of its members to serve as officers for the next year, including Cape Coral resident Lyndia Bradley.
Bradley was installed as the organization’s Worthy Matron. She will oversee the operation of the organization for the next year. This will be her second term in the position. She also served as Worthy Matron in 2006, “It is an honor to be selected again to lead this fine organization. I look forward to doing many good things over the next year.”
Bradley’s husband, Jim was installed as the chapter's Worthy Patron. In all, the club installed 18 members as the 2013-2014 officers at Saturday's ceremony.
The Order of the Eastern Star is a fraternal organization related to the Free Masons. The club was established in the United States in 1850. In order to become a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, one must be a wife, mother, daughter, sister, or widow of a master Mason.
The Cape Coral branch of the organization was established in 1969. Since that time, the non-profit organization has been dedicated to a number of local charitable causes including; palliative care, service dogs, and finding a cure for cancer to name a few.
The organization meets monthly in closed, private meetings. Saturday night’s ceremony is the only club function that is open to the public each year. Currently, there are 100 members in the local chapter.
